Roche’s ‘Inside the Peloton’ now favourite for ‘Overall Irish Book of Year’

Having already lifted the “Bord Gais Sports Book of the Year’ award, Nicolas Roche’s and journalist Gerard Cromwell’s ‘Inside the Peloton’ has now been shortlisted for the overall ‘Irish Book of the Year’.

The award is being run exclusively on the basis of an online public vote, meaning Roche’s fan-base and large following on social media (not to mention the fact that the book is actually very good – ed) puts the autobiography of the Ag2r rider now favourite to lift the award.

When the rider-journalist duo won the sports award last week, that contest was decided largely on the basis of a public vote, but with some input from the judging panel.

However, the overall ‘Bord Gais Energy Irish Book of the Year’ is to be settled exclusively by way of a public vote, meaning Roche’s wide fan base may well get him over the line.

Roche and Cromwell’s bestselling offering is up against some diverse opposition, with some heavyweight names from the world of literature and entertainment on the 10-book shortlist.
