The event known as the ‘Race to the Sun’ starts in just over a month on Sunday March 5th and concludes the following Sunday.

Before that, Roche will see out this week’s Volta A la Communicat Valenciana in Spain where his teammate Greg Van Avermaet currently leads overall, before heading to the Middle East to take part in the Abu Dhabi Tour.

That event kicks off on Thursday the 23rd of this month and lasts for four days, after which Roche will return to his base in Monaco to build up for a race he’s typically done well in, either riding for himself or others.

Last year he helped former Team Sky teammate Geraint Thomas seal the overall win at Paris-Nice and in the last eight years he’s only missed it once, so it’s a race he knows very well.

From there he will ride the Volta A Pais Vasco (April 3-8th) in Spain, a race he last did in 2013 while in the colours of Team Saxo-Tinkoff.

After that his schedule is unclear, with the Ardennes an unconfirmed possibility.
