Video: Road furniture on final bend causes sprint chaos in pro race

Olav Kooij (18) of the Jumbo-Visma Development Team comes through to win as the traffic island and a metal structure coming from it causes a major crash

A traffic island and metal pole coming from it caused sprint chaos at the end of the Kranj GP in Slovenia yesterday.

While the first two riders rounded the final bend without incident and sprinted in for 1st and 2nd, the next rider around the corner crashed and many others piled into the fallers as numbers on the deck mounted.

However, 18-year-old Olav Kooij of the Jumbo-Visma Development Team had no problems. He took a comfortable win after his team had worked hard in the final 20km to bring back a promising looking breakaway.
