
A strong climber, McConvey (leading) will be hoping to find his legs on the hills for the new team
Here’s the rider line-up for the ‘Synergy Baku Cycling Project’. The UCI Continental team will be based out of Azerbaijan and is being put together by David McQuaid with David McCann and former British Team Sky pro Jeremy Hunt.

Connor McConvey – The former An Post-Sean Kelly rider and noted climber from Belfast will be looked to for some strong general classification performances, especially in the hillier races in the programme.
David McCann – With a Bsc in Pure Mathematics and a level 2 coaching qualification under his belt, not to mention three Olympic Games, three Irish road titles, six TT titles and 49 victories in UCI races in his palmares, the Irishman will be a massive asset.
Anuar Manan – The Malaysian sprinter is a potentially potent winner of races. The 26-year-old has 18 UCI career wins, with three victories and 17 top six placings in 2.HC Tour stages. McCann is hopeful Manan can come good early in the year and get the team off to a good start.
Rico Rogers – The Kiwi most recently ridden for the UK-based Continental team Node4-Giordana. Aged 34 years, he has six victories in UCI races, has won stages in the Tour of China and Tour of Taiwan and been on the podium at the Tour of Langkawi.

Dave Clark – The 33-year-old British rider can climb and ride for GC and was a team mate of Rogers last season. He has three UCI wins to his name and one UCI 2.2 GC win.
John Kronborg Ebsen – From Denmark and aged 24 years he is a pure climber who the team believe can do very well. He has already one UCI stage win in his palmares and two top six overall placings in UCI 2.2 races.
Dan Craven – The 29-year-old Namibian rode in the UK with IG Sigma Sport last year. He crashed out of the An Post Rás while holding the lead in the climbers’ classification. He was Namibian national champion in 2008 and also took the African title that year. He has won four UCI races and has placed four times in the top eight of UCI 2.2 events.

Christoph Schweizer - The 26-year-old German sprinter has one UCI track win to his name.
Kirill Pozdnyakov – The 23-year-old Russian is described as a very strong all rounder and won the junior Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in Belgium.
Elchin Asadov – The 25-year-old from Azerbaijan won the TT national title last season and was second in the road race championships and has finished 6th overall in the UCI 2.2 Tour of Trakya in Turkey.
Tural Isgandarov – Aged 20 years from Azerbaijan.
Elvin Naghiyev – Aged 23 years from Azerbaijan.
Ruslan Mustafayez – Aged 25 years from Azerbaijan.
Aqshin Ismayilov – Aged 25 years from Azerbaijan.
Samir Cebrayilov – Aged 18 years from Azerbaijan.
Oleksandr Surutkovich – Aged 28 years from Ukraine.
