We’ve put together a round-up for you of all of the St Patrick’s Day events across the county and we’ll follow this up later with the events for Sunday.

 

Leinster

Usher Irish Road Club – Three race programme in Dunboyne

Usher Irish Road Club is hosting its series of St Patrick’s Day races on Saturday morning with sign on at Dunboyne Soccer Club in Co Meath; around 2km from Dunboyne on the Summerhill road. Riders can sign on between 9.30am and 10.45am.

There are three races in total, with riders departing from the soccer club at 11am. The route takes the field out the Summerhill road where they will then join the Dorey's Forge circuit. Each race will complete two laps before leaving the circuit and racing back in the road towards Dunboyne to finish outside the nursing home

There’s one race for A1/A2 riders, with the A2s to get a handicap. The club is also putting on another race for A3s only, and a third event for A4 riders.

Munster

Carrick Wheelers Cup, Carrick-on-Suir

Iverk Produce Carrick Wheelers will again host its traditional St Patrick’s Day race on the usual Carrick–Glenbower–Kilheffernan–Kilsheelan–Carrick circuit, finishing on the top of St John’s Hill on the outskirts of the town.

Sign on is at the Carrick Utd Clubhouse, Coolnamuck Road, Carrickbeg, Carrick-on-Suir, from 9am, with racing starting at 11.30am.

There are three races; one for A1/A2 combined and then two separate races for A3s and A4s.

The A1/A2 and the A3 event will be three laps of the circuit, for a race distance of around 100km. The A4 race will be two laps for an approximate race distance of 70km.

All races are sponsored by Thompson’s Funeral Home in Waterford, with prizes for the first eight over the line in each race, bringing the total prize fund to €1,000. The prize presentation will be held back at the sign on venue.

Clann Eireann Cup, Derrymacash
Clann Eireann CC is running its title event in Derrymacash near Lurgan on Saturday morning for A3 and A4 riders only. There is no racing for the A1 and A2 categories. The combined A3 and A4 races is limited to 60 riders, with an online pre-entry system in place on www.clanncc.net

It was very nearly full just a while ago so it’s best not to turn up on the day without checking the availability of places.

Sign on is at the Ballynacor Lane/Ballynerry N Road Junction at 10am with the race off at 11am. The race will consist of eight laps of 5.8 mile circuit; Balllynerry N Road – Charlestown Road – Carn Road – Kilvergan – Aghacommon Embankment. There are prizes for the first five riders.

 

North Pole CC - St Patrick's Day Races in Burt
North Pole CC is hosting a series of races for A1's through to A4's, as well as the next round of the ‘Time Square Jewelers Gold Cup Master's Series’.

The course will be 26-mile approximately, going from Burt chapel to Manor roundabout and back with the finish line at the Slab Road.

The main event for A1/A2/A3 riders will start first with the A3 riders getting a handicap on the A1/A2 riders. This will start at 10.00am

The A4 race will start at 10.10am, with riders following the same route.

This will be shortly followed by the 50+ Master’s event, the next round in the ‘Time Square Jewelers Gold Cup Master's Series’.

 

Connaught

Covey Wheelers 25 mile TT, Westport

In Westport on Saturday morning Covey Wheelers is holding its 25 mile Mikey Palmer TT Challenge, open to A1/A2/A3/A4, Juniors and U16 riders.

The sign on time is 8:30AM, at the Skate Park on the Louisburgh Rd. First Rider off at 9:30AM.
