Cunga Cycling Club is hosting what promises to be a great couple of days this weekend in the company of Ireland’s former world No 1 cyclist Sean Kelly.
The programme of events with Carrick’s favourite son kicks off on Saturday night with a buffet dinner at Lydon’s Lodge, Cong, Co Mayo, followed by a Q&A session during which Kelly will relive some of his best moments on the bike and offer advice for riders of all ages and levels.
The following day, the club is hosting a leisure cycle where riders will get the opportunity to get a few miles in with Kelly. The emphasis is very much on leisure, with the Mayo club promising there will be no hills and that the event is open to those of all abilities.

The Saturday evening event gets underway at 7pm, with tickets costing €20. It doubles as Cunga CC’s Christmas party so should be a bit of craic. The leisure cycle the following morning sets off from Cong at 11am, with an entry fee of €10.
It looks set to be an interesting couple of days put on by the club that counts Olympian and former multi national champion David O’Loughlin among its ranks. Tickets for the events on both days can be booked by calling John on 087 9761612 or by emailing [email protected]
