Former world champion Kasia Pawlowska got get season off to the worst possible start yesterday at the Boels-Dolmans team presentation at a five-star hotel in the Netherlands.
The 27-year old, a gold medal winner from the 2012, 2013 and 2015 world championships (points and scratch race) was being introduced to the audience when she somehow slipped and fell off the stage and suffered a very nasty gash to her leg.
She took to twitter afterwards to say;
“How bad luck can you be to slip from the stage on the team presentation and cut your leg really deeply? 15 stitches!”

Despite the mishap at the glitzy Chateau St Gerlach near Maastricht, you can expect the team to win big this season, just as they did last year winning 40 races.
Also in the Boels Dolmans roster for 2017 are world champion Amalie Dideriksen and Olympic champion Anna van der Breggen.
WorldTour winner Megan Guarnier is also there, as is Lizzie Deignan, the former world champion and one of the very best riders in the world.
