Primož Roglič may have been left distraught on the penultimate day of the Tour de France last year when he lost the yellow jersey to Tadej Pogačar but he's clearly determined to make no mistake this year.
Less than 15 hours after winning the Itzulia Basque Country yesterday, with a storming aggressive ride on the final stage, Roglič was on the road on his TT bike in the rain in France doing a recon ride of the Tour de France stage 20 TT.
And then a few hours later he was back out on his TT bike again, this time riding the route of the Tour's stage 5 TT. His Jumbo Visma team coach, Grischa Niermann, shared photos (below) of the Vuelta champion in action on his double day in France today.
The first Tweet was shared at 7am this morning and was taken from the team car following Roglič while the second image was posted just over 5½ hours later, at 12:28pm.
Roglič finished 2nd on the final stage in the Basque Country yesterday, behind David Gaudu (Groupama FDJ) in Arrate just before 5pm. He then drove approximately 330km to the course of the stage 20 Tour TT, which will take the rides 31km from Libourne to Saint-Émilion.
His recon ride there this morning, in wet conditions, was already well underway underway at 7am. And after that first ride was complete, Roglič and the team staff then traveled about 480km north to the course of the Tour's stage 5 TT.
There he did his second recon ride of the day on the 27km stage route from Changé to Laval Espace Mayenne; a very busy day with lots of travel and clearly showing his eyes are fixed on the Tour with no time to bask in the glory of the previous day.
Last year Roglič went into the final TT at the Tour, on the penultimate day of racing, in yellow and with 57 seconds in hand over his nearest rival Tadej Pogačar (UAE-Team Emirates).
However, on the 36.2km TT from Lure to the summit of La Planche des Belles Filles, Pogačar put in the ride of his life to win the stage and put a massive 1:56 into Roglič, who could only manage 5th on the stage. That meant the yellow jersey was taken by Pogačar for the ride into Paris the following day.
