Primoz Roglic (Jumbo Visma) is out of Critérium du Dauphiné, with Thibaut Pinot (Groupama FDJ) not head of the overall standings.
Roglic withdrew from the race today before the final stage to Megève began due to the injuries he sustained in his crash on yesterday's stage.
His withdrawal followed a dramatic day on the race when a number of crashes occurred and when Egan Bernal (Team Ineos) pulled out of the race before the stage due to a back injury.
“As a result of his crash yesterday,
Primoz Roglic - leader in the GC and points classification - won’t start in the
ultimate stage today,” Jumbo Visma said in a short statement on Twitter.
“The evolution of his injuries will determine the plans for the upcoming races. Speedy recovery.”
Roglic crashed after 82km; falling hard and appearing to be about to abandon the race until he got going again and got back on to the favourites’ group with the help of team mate Sepp Kuss.
Roglic was left with a torn jersey and shorts on both sides while his left arm, shoulder and left hip and thigh appeared to have sustained significant road rash.
