Action from last week’s Des Hanlon Memorial: Shane Baker doing a bit of damage……
Here’s a round up of all the action nationwide for the weekend ahead:
Saturday
Harry Reynolds Memorial, Balbriggan CC
On Saturday afternoon Balbriggan CC is staging its annual Harry Reynolds Memorial race for A1/A2/A3/A4 riders in north Co Dublin. The race is seven laps of the 7.2km course and starts at 4pm. Sign on is at the Man O’ War Pub from 2pm to 3.30pm.
There are prizes for the first eight over the line and also prizes for the first two unplaced A2, A3 and A4 riders; so 14 prizes on total.
Markievicz Cup, Eire Og CC
In Coolaney, Sligo, on Saturday afternoon Eire Og CC is staging the Markievicz Cup. The race is for A2, A3 and A4 riders, as well as juniors, women and vets. Sunday
Ben McKenna Memorial, Balbriggan CC
On Sunday Balbriggan CC is again centre stage in north Co Dublin, hosting the Ben McKenna Memorial programme of racing. There are four races in total over two different courses of 28km and 24km.
The combined A1/A2 race starts at 11am and is 136km. The A3 race gets underway at 11.05am and is 80km. The women’s race is 52kms and starts at 11.15am. The separate A4 race is also 52km and starts at 11.20am. Balbriggan CC was unable to hold the Jim ‘Jazzer’ Wherity Memorial race this evening, Friday, so the A4 race on Sunday now becomes that race.
The prizes on Sunday are pretty incredible.
In the A1/A2 race there are a whopping 22 prizes; first 10 over the line and first 12 A2s. In the A3 race there are prizes for the first 15 plus the first unplaced junior. The women’s race has prizes for the first five over the line and first unplaced junior and in the A4 race there are 10 prizes.
So that’s an absolute pot-fest from Balbriggan CC…….
Sign on is at Ring Commons Sports Centre between 9am and 10.30am and everyone needs to be ready to roll out at 11am, even those whose races are starting slightly later than that.
