Action from last year’s Traders Cup

Following the first win of the season captured by Robin Kelly (Waterford Racing Club) in the Ned Flanagan Memorial in Co Kildare last weekend, the Leinster region sees its second fixture of the year tomorrow, Sunday, in the shape of the Traders Cup in Dundalk.

Karl Dolan of the promoting Cuchulainn Cycling Club said he’s expecting capacity fields for the three races down for decision.

In the main race for the A1, A2 and A3 riders; the event will be handicapped over five laps of the lumpy 17km circuit.

While there are no major climbs on the circuit, the couple of drags that do feature, along with the different levels of fitness and leg speed at this time of year, will all undoubtedly conspire to split the field.

There are prizes in the main race for the first six over the line; with €150 for 1st. There are four additional prizes in that race; one each for the first unplaced A1, A2 and A3 riders and unplaced club man.

There is a separate race for A4 riders; four laps of the same 17km course the main event will race over. Dolan and his club mates are also putting on a third race; for women and men over 50 years. There are non-cash prizes in those two races. Find full details below.
