Photos: Sam Bennett Giro tan lines, Philip Deignan super skinny
Sam Bennett was sporting some serious tan lines after his three week sunny cycle around Italy. The always flyweight Philip Deignan is in serious shape.
Philip Deignan (Team Sky) and Sam Bennett (Bora-hansgrohe) gave Irish cycling fans a huge amount to cheer on at the Giro d'Italia.
Bennett was in action in the sprints; the first rider since the days of Sean Kelly to threaten for Grand Tour stage victories in the bunch gallops.
He was 3rd in three stages and 2nd once; denied victory by Fernando Gaviria (QuickStep) on stage 13 into Tortona.
Bennett was also 3rd in the points classification. And while he was disappointed not to take a stage, it was a remarkable performance for man who was wiped out with a stomach bug for the whole first week.
At least he knows now, if he didn't before the Giro, that he can definitely take Grand Tour victories in the future.

As well as coming out of the Giro with his Grand Tour sprinter credentials established, he also took away some pretty serious tan lines from the race!
His compatriot Philip Deignan was absolutely fantastic on the climbs, especially in the final week.
He infiltrated many breakaways on the toughest stages; dragging the moves along at times for team mate Mikel Landa, who won a stage and was top climber in the race.
Deignan's best stage result was 16th on the penultimate stage. And he was also 37th overall.
They are perhaps no reflective of the manner in which he rode, but at 33-years-old and in the last season of his current Team Sky contract, there is no doubt he can continue at the top in the years to come.
Whether he will stay with Team Sky or switch to another team, maybe a smaller one where he could be a protected rider, should become clear in the weeks and months ahead.
He came out of the race in mint condition; looking super skinny even by his own flyweight standards.
Philip Deignan is always flyweight, but there really is none of him there in this shot take just after the Giro d'Italia finished.
Sam Bennett relaxing after a tough three weeks in which he took 2nd and 3rd on stages. He has plenty of time to get some Grand Tour stage wins.
