Craig Arrigan was taken to the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald, Co Down, following his crash in the final round of the SEAT Super 7 crit series. He required 60 stitches after going head-first through the back seat of a parked car. His teammates, Mark Dowling and James Davenport, visited him in hospital that night on August 14th two months ago and it's fair to say they were absolutely loving the craic. Cyclists are like that, they really are...
His was arguably the crash of the domestic season but we’re happy to report that Craig Arrigan is back on the bike after his horror smash during the final round of the SEAT Super 7 crit series back on August 14th.
Bangor, Co Down, was the venue for the final night two months ago where the DID Dunboyne man travelled north in support of joint race-leader Mark Dowling.
The action was hectic from the gun but unfortunately for Arrigan his race ended all too quickly when he collided with a parked car early on and careered through the back window, slicing himself up pretty badly in the process.
The race was cancelled and Dowling was declared the winner.
Arrigan's powers of recovery are almost as good as his sense of humour because exactly two months on, he’s back to normal.
And he's even using the scars to his advantage in any way he can.
“Shark attack is the go-to story on a night out,” he joked!
We won’t even ask…

Arrigan can count himself lucky he didn't do any more damage to himself, though these are pretty ghastly.

Arrigan required 60 stitches the night of his crash, the majority of which were in his left and right arms.

What a trooper. Giving the thumbs up in hospital despite looking and obviously feeling pretty miserable.

That will definitely sting in the morning....
