Photos of Sam Bennett & Cannondale's Elia Viviani rowing after Tour of Britain stage go viral

Sam Bennett and Elia Viviani
Just 24 hours after Sean Kelly said An Post-Chainreaction rider Sam Bennett must "give the elbow" in a sprint if he needs to protect his position, the young Carrick-on-Suir sprinter did just that; but maybe not in the way Kelly would have imagined.

After finishing runner-up to Mark Cavendish on the final stage of the Tour of Britain on Sunday, Bennett was pictured grappling with Italian sprint sensation Elia Viviani (Cannondale) after the latter felt the An Post Chainreaction rider had hustled him a little bit too much coming in for the line.

These pictures were captured by an amateur photographer after the stage on Sunday and have gone viral since.

Kelly may have intended for Bennett to get stuck in in the gallop, but it was refreshing to see the 22-year-old hustle hard in the bunch and then stand his ground afterwards when a more established name (for now) put it up to him; fair play.
