Photos: Irish rider celebrates win too early, with horrible outcome

Oh dear! Keith Fox (Planet X) thinks he's won the Tommy Brady Memorial in Robinstown only to learn that, erm, he didn't. Spare a thought for the lad...

It’s the picture sequence no rider ever wants to star in and we can only feel sorry for Planet X man Keith Fox.

He was a few feet away from winning the Tommy Brady Memorial in Robinstown, Co Meath, last Saturday evening so he thought he’d celebrate the moment and throw his hands in the air.

Trouble was, two men came around him in the final dash for the line; winner Dermot Trulock (Lucan CRC) and runner-up Joe Christain (Unattached).

The photos below tell the story better than we ever could.

But fair dues to Fox, he took it on the chin and at least he has won the race in the past, taking victory two years ago from Tim O'Regan and Eoin Morton.

He’ll absorb the lesson and if he can get to the front in an A1 bunch gallop like this, expect to see him do it again very soon.

White gets there in the nick of time as Fox realises that moment when things all go Pete Tong...Christain makes up a fair chunk of tarmac too it must be said.

Hands to the head as he realises his mistake and slips from victory to 3rd - still a good result.
