Ireland's Martyn Irvine is hopeful the injuries he sustained in a bad spill at the European Track Championships in Holland at the weekend will have cleared up before the World Cup meeting in Kazakhstan the weekend after next.
Irvine was left with a badly injured thigh after coming down in the elimination race in the omnium at the Apeldoorn velodrome on Saturday night.
While he managed to rejoin the race and then lap the field the following day in the scratch race, he has been left with considerable discomfort.
"I'm bruised and the thigh is very swollen, it's about twice as big as it should be," he told stickybottle.
He was hopeful a week's training in Spain before the vital Olympic qualifier World Cup meeting in Astana in ten days will aid his recovery.
We'll have a full interview with Irvine soon. In the meantime, check out the footage of the crash below. We wish him a quick recovery.
