Today's crash at the Tour of Britain is a disappointing end to a fantastic season for Philip Deignan.

Philip Deignan's Unitedhealthcare team has confirmed the Irishman fractured his collarbone on the stage 3 time trial at the Tour of Britain today, Tuesday.
It a statement released via its social media accounts, the US-based Pro Continental team said the Team Sky bound rider was hospitalised, where X-Rays have confirmed his injury.
The news is a disappointing blow for the Donegal man and also to Team Ireland, who he was due to ride for at the World Road Race Championships in Florence on Sunday week.
It its statement, the team said:
"Earlier today, Tuesday, September 17th, team member Philip Deignan suffered a crash with 4km to go in the time trial at the 2013 Tour of Britain."
"Phil went over the handle bars and was transported to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. The doctor at the hospital confirmed that X-rays taken revealed Phil suffered a fractured collarbone."
"He will be examined tomorrow morning, Wednesday, September 18, at a hospital near Manchester, and is scheduled for surgery on Thursday morning, September 19."
"Please wish Phil a speedy recovery and the best as he heals from his injury. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available."
We'd like to echo those sentiments and from all at stickybottle wish Philip a speedy recovery.
He will ride for Team Sky next year off the back of an excellent 2013 season that saw him claim the overall victory at the Tour of Gila, second overall at the Tour of Beauce and top ten overall finishes at the Tours of Utah and California.
With the off-season just around the corner, he will have time to recover before taking his place in the ranks of the British squad.
He had been selected along with Nicolas Roche and Dan Martin to ride the Worlds – with a fourth man still to be named. And his form of late was regarded as a major factor in strengthening Martin’s chances of winning the title on a hilly course where Deignan could be of real assistance to Martin and Roche.
Cycling Ireland will now have to name two riders to join Roche and Martin in the Irish team for the Worlds, with Philip Lavery, Matt Brammeier and Sam Bennett in the running.
