Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo) enjoyed a strong performance at Paris-Roubaix on Sunday, when the former world champion finished in 4th place. He adds that to the 3rd place finish he achieved at the Tour of Flanders the previous weekend.
The Dane was out do his recon rides on the cobbles before the race, like everyone else, but rather than simply checking out the course and getting used to the pavé, he also squeezed in a bit of motor pacing behind a large quad.
The video below has now emerged of Pedersen in the draft of a large quad bike, meaning he was traveling at high speed across the cobbles and getting used to the effort he would face in Sunday's race when the pace was on.
While we've seen riders being pace behind motorbikes many times, this is the first time we've seen a quad being used on the cobbles. Pedersen made the select group in the finale on Sunday and though he was left behind by the top three - Mathieu van der Poel, Jasper Philipsen (both Alpecin-Deceuninck) and Wout van Aert (Jumbo Visma) - he won the three-up sprint for 4th at 50 seconds.
