A cyclist in Australia has taken to an online funding campaign as she tries to come up with the money to replace a carbon wheel destroyed by her pet parrot.
Gypsy the parrot pecked her way through the rim of the wheel and now the owner of the wheel (and parrot), Queensland cyclist Vanessa Wallace, has set up a GoFundMe page for a replacement wheel as she says she hasn't got the money herself.
“I know it’s a long shot but hoping someone has a Mavic CXR 60 Elite Exalith front wheel for sale,” she wrote on the Brisbane Bicycle Market Facebook page.
“My recently labelled ‘pain in the a$$’ parrot found inspiration in Harry Houdini, Prison Break and Dexter and attempted to dismantle/murder my front wheel.”
She then went onto GoFundMe posing as gypsy the parrot and looking to raise the money for a replacement wheel, saying: "My owner is giving me the silent treatment, and I miss our free flighting adventures.. She loves this freakin bike so bad!!!
"She attempted to post an advert to a couple of local Facebook pages to source a new front wheel… after her post went viral it became obvious ’said’ wheel is no longer available for purchase, meaning my lapse in self control is now going to cost her a pretty penny - opps my bad!!"
