Dublin Fire Brigade paramedics were blocked by parked vehicles, causing their delay, when trying to reach an injured cyclist in the Dublin Mountains yesterday.
The emergency service issued a statement after the
incident appealing to motorists to park responsibly, in a manner that does not
block access to its vehicles.
Paramedics in an emergency tender eventually got through to the injured mountain bike rider in Ticknock Forest.

The cyclist was attended to at the scene before being
taken away by ambulance to hospital for treatment for unspecified injuries.
Dublin Fire Brigade released a short statement and a series of photos to outline how restricted its vehicles had been because of drivers who had parked in a manner that blocked access.
“Today we worked with Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team
after a mountain biker sustained an injury in Ticknock Forest,” Dublin Fire
Brigade said.
“At approximately 3.10pm on Sunday, May 24th, Dublin Fire Brigade received a call for assistance to an injured mountain biker near the Hell Fire Club.
“A fire appliance with an advanced-paramedic on board
from Tallaght Fire Station and an ambulance was dispatched. The patient was in
a difficult to reach location and a call for assistance was made to
Dublin-Wicklow mountain rescue.
“The patient was treated for serious leg injuries and
transported to Saint Vincent’s University Hospital for further treatment. Crews
encountered difficulty accessing the scene due to illegal parking on the narrow
roads.
“The area is a popular exercising spot, and Dublin Fire
Brigade would like to remind the public to park responsibly and be mindful of
the need for emergency services to access these areas 24/7.
“Parking in yellow boxes, double yellow lines and
opposite continuous white lines is a common occurrence at a number of natural
amenities across the city.”
