Paris-Roubaix Sportive just about to open up; would you be able for it?

There are three distances in the sportive across the cobbles; two start and finish in the velodrome and the longest distance finishes there.

If you’re looking for bragging rights that you can milk right through the summer sportive season at home next year, tomorrow is a big date in your diary.

Registration for the Paris-Roubaix Sportive opens – at 10am on Tuesday, November 8th – and it would give you a serious test in April if you’re in the market.

The event is effectively three sportives in one; the longest route of 163km and two shorter ones of 139km (not that short – Ed) and 70km.

And before you ask; yes, of course you will get to ride on the sections of pavé the pros fight it out over every year.

You can even take a shower in the famous velodrome concrete showers named after the winners every year.

In fact the long route – which takes the riders from Busigny to Roubaix – features no fewer than 28 sections of the feared cobbles.

So by the time you have these iconic 163km in your legs, you’ll well and truly be a giant of the road – at least in your own mind and the eyes of family and friends!

While registration opens tomorrow, the event is not on until April 13th next. That’s a Saturday and the pro race is on the very next day.

So you can go back to the scene of the crime the next day – if you can still walk – and watch the best classics men in the world battle the same roads as you.

While the longest of the three sportive distances starts in Busigny and finishes on the Roubaix velodrome, the two short routes both start and finish on the velodrome.

It would be a great event to take in but, without trying to scare anyone; you’d want to have prepared properly for it or it could get very painful quite quickly.

If you’re looking to register, here’s the link. And you can check out the event's Facebook page here.
