Having taken double gold at both the World Championships and Paralympics this year, cycling’s Mark Rohan has been named on the shortlist for the prestigious RTÉ Sports Person of the Year award.

Unfortunately it’s one of those awards where the public can’t vote so we can’t help get Rohan over the line.

Instead, the award is decided upon by a panel of experts, with the winner to be announced in a special TV programme this day week, Sunday December 23rd, on which Rohan should feature.

He’s up against some very stiff opposition with most of the big names in sport having been nominated this time around including world number 1 golfer Rory McIlroy, European cross country champion Fionnuala Britton, Olympic champion boxer Katie Taylor and ERC European Player of the Year Rob Kearney.

You’ll find the shortlist below; best of luck to Mark Rohan from all of us here at stickybottle and well done on getting this far in what’s been a sporting feast in Olympic year.
