Eddie Dunbar’s rise through the junior ranks over the last 18 months has been quite extraordinary, with many regarding him as the best rider to emerge from the domestic scene for many years.
And his recent move to UK-based Continental team NFTO has done little to take the spotlight off the young Corkman.
Even the country’s most well-known bookmaker, Paddy Power is taking bets on the two-time Junior Tour of Ireland winner and national road race champion going on to win the biggest race of them all, the Tour de France.
Optimistic as it may seem, given Dunbar is only 18 years of age, you can now get odds of 150/1 for him to win the sport’s hardest race by the year 2025.

And one punter has already jumped in at that price, placing €100 on him to do just that.

Another bet, which is quite incredible for a man of Dunbar’s age, is for him to win the Tour at any time in his life. That bet can be got at a fairly ridiculous price of 50/1.
Two other wagers of interested are that he wins a stage of the Tour by 2015 (3/1) or that he wins a stage of the Tour at any stage in his career (13/8).
The odds for the more likely outcomes may not be fantastic, especially since all riders face a massive challenge in even getting to Tour de France level, but it's a sign of the mark Dunbar has made that he's now the subject of novelty betting.
