One of the stars of the domestic scene over the last number of years, Patrick Clarke, has decided he will change teams for next season.
The 27 year-old Mayo man will link up with local club Ballina CC after departing Liquidworx-Fitscience-Coleman Electronics whom he has spent the past two seasons with.
The former Kerry Group Rás Mumhan and Suir Valley Three-Day runner-up said it was a “logical” move to return to his home club where he hopes to continue racing at the highest level while also boosting the club’s image.
“My reasons for moving were very much based on the fact I wanted a bit of a change," he said.
"And I’m keen to bring on and develop bike racing in the local town, so being a member of the local club means it is simply the logical choice."
Clarke has been one of the most consistent riders on the domestic scene for the last number of years and having ridden full-time in Belgium for several seasons he has brought that knowledge and experience to the biggest races at home.
He usually bags a few big results every year and is always one of the most aggressive riders in the bunch, though sometimes to his detriment.
We’ll have an interview with Clarke later in the year about his plans for next season.
