The award-winning Irish sports journalist who has been instrumental in the downfall of Lance Armstrong, David Walsh is to publish before Christmas his book on the disgraced American.

The Sunday Times writer has been putting the finishing touches to the book in recent days in a bid to get it on the shelves for the lucrative festive market.

The book, which documents Armstrong’s fall and Walsh’s role in it, will be available from December 13th.

Walsh has written a number of cycling books, including ‘Kelly’, which was published in 1986 and was based on the life of former world No 1 Sean Kelly.

After two decades writing about cycling, Walsh turned his focus to drugs in the sport and as well as his journalism on Armstrong he has already written two well received books on the American ex seven-time Tour de France winner: ‘From Lance to Landis’ and “L.A. Confidential’.

The new book is being published by Simon & Schuster.
