Our "62km Strava snowman" explodes at home and abroad; check this out

The two UCD students who drew this massive snowman on Strava have caused a splash at home and abroad; fair play lads!

Last week we brought you news of an amazing cycling achievement by two students from University College Dublin; they'd drawn a 62km snowman on Strava over the streets of Dublin.

Physics freshers Simon Jones and Adam O’Reilly took a break from the books and set out to draw the festive design using the GPS-based app to track their progress.

Simon did the heavy-lifting in plotting the route – at the not insignificant size of 62 kilometres - while Adam, from Oldcastle in Meath, tagged along and recorded the ride.

“I was bored one day just studying - or procrastinating - and I thought it’d be cool to come up with something like that,” explained Rush native Simon.

And so impressed was the domestic and international journalistic fraternity that the story was carried in a large number of media outlets.

Well done lads!
