Having lost a number of key riders in recent weeks, the Cork-based Aquablue squad has busied itself rebuilding by signing Olympian Cathal Moynihan.
The former rowing international who competed in the lightweight fours at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 makes the move for next year from his home club Tralee BC.
The Kerryman had been a target of Aquablue last year but he decided to stay put and enjoyed a mixed season riding in its colours.
Moynihan, who took a memorable stage win on the opening day of the Kerry Group Rás Mumhan this year and subsequently wore the yellow jersey, will be the team’s co-leader alongside fellow Kerryman Sean Lacey.
Joe Fenlon, Bryan McCrystal and Damien Shaw have all moved on from Aquablue in favour of the new six-rider Team ASEA.
And national vets’ champion Keith Gater and renowned sprinter Robin Kelly have also departed Aquablue in favour of returning to Waterford Racing Club, of which both are founding members.

Moynihan will team up with Sean Lacey at Aquablue and along with other team members they have the potential to be formidable together.
However, while Aquablue will feel those departures, they have signed top junior international from last year Dylan O’Brien and now Moynihan.
Both are capable of winning good races next year and along with Lacey can win the biggest events in the country if things go their way.
Triathlete Bryan Keane, who is a real hopeful for the Rio Olympics, will race in Aquablue’s colours from time to time next year.
Neil Delahaye will also give the team some real firepower, though his commitments coaching the national junior team will mean his racing will likely be put to one side for much of next season.
This year he raced very little due to his role with Cycling Ireland. However, that did not stop him making the breakaway in the national championships, where he would eventually finish 9th.
