Nicolas Roche has been named in Team Sunweb’s line-up for the Tour de France due to begin at the end of next month, with his inclusion coming as no surprise.
The team is made up of Søren Kragh Andersen, Nikias
Arndt, Tiesj Benoot, Cees Bol, Marc Hirschi, Joris Nieuwenhuis, Roche and Jasha
Sütterlin and they will target stage wins at the Tour.
Team Sunweb said a similar line-up would take on Strade
Bianche, Milano-Sanremo then head to the Dauphine ahead of Tour de France,
followed by the Flemish classics.
The team has booked out a hotel for itself in Kühtai, a
town in the Austrian Alps situated at 2,000 metres.
It will hold altitude camps there for its three teams –
elite men’s and women’s and development squad – through July and into early
August.
To manage the risk of infection from Covid19, the team
will operate in multiple bubbles for rider and staff groups.
No two bubbles will be allowed to mix during their
travel, or time on the camp. In addition, all riders and staff must provide a
negative Covid19 test before travelling to the camp.
Team Sunweb head coach Rudi Kemna said: “Throughout
lockdown we have remained positive and used our time away from racing in the
best possible way, always keeping spirits high within the team during these
challenging times.
“As the season restart approaches it’s now time to put
the finishing touches to the hard work that we have been doing across all three
programs.”
