Nicolas Roche on Team Sky: “Something doesn’t add up”

Nicolas Roche has said if he was still at Team Sky he probably wouldn't publicly support Dave Brailsford. He believes something doesn't add up with the recent chain of events.
Nicolas Roche has said he probably wouldn’t publicly support Dave Brailsford if he was still a Team Sky rider.
And he also believes “something doesn’t add up” with the explanations the team has offered around recent controversies involving medicines used by the WorldTour outfit.
However, the Irishman writes in his Irish Independent Paris-Nice diary today that during his two years with the team he was never asked to bend or break either rules or ethics.
“The controversy surrounding Team Sky at the moment, I believe, concerns just a few people,” he writes.
“But (it) is tarnishing the credibility of anyone who has ever ridden for the team, including me.
“Almost every day since the story broke, something new seems to emerge: mysterious jiffy bags, missing medical records, stolen laptops."
Find out new details "on the internet"
He noted that the new information is coming out bit by bit, with riders find out about it via the media.
“And we all find out about it at the same time from the internet. Maybe I don't have all the facts but something just doesn't add up.
“The story seems to be never-ending and will probably rumble on for ages, but the real problem is, why did it take five years to come out?
“And why did it take hackers and journalists to find out about it first?
During the week, it was reported that Chris Froome was one of the riders who refused to sign a statement giving his support of beleaguered team boss Dave Brailsford.
“In fairness, I probably would have done the same. If I've learned anything from the past it's that you can't put your hand in the fire for anyone.”
