Nicolas Roche on his way to being beaten in the Bike Vs Horse race for charity this evening at Leopardstown race course in south Dublin.
Nicolas Roche may in the middle of negotiating his way out of Tinkoff-Saxo and into the arms of a new employer, but he took time out last night, Thursday, to go head-to-head with race horse and jockey in Dublin in aid of charity.
Roche was beaten over the 400 metres, run on the final two furlongs of the Leopardstown track in south Dublin, by champion jockey Pat Smullen on board the Dermot Weld trained Moonbi Creek.
While horse and jockey obviously ran the distance on the track, Roche cycled down a narrow tarmac path running alongside.
The event was in aid of the Children’s Medical & Research Foundation at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin and took just over 25 seconds.
