News Shorts: Roche at Tour, Sagan's slick shoes, Irish cycling videos

Dublin International GP

If you missed the Dublin International Track GP on the Sundrive Rd velodrome in Dublin at the weekend, Cycling Ireland has issued this great video of it.

So sit back and enjoy for a few minutes what was a great event.

Stephen Roche gives a few tips

Working on the Tour again this year in his usual publicity role with vehicle sponsor Skoda, Stephen Roche found time to give a few words of advice to stage 5 winner and race leader Greg Van Avermaet.

Roche has been getting out on the bike a lot more in recent years and has definitely trimmed down as a result.

It's great to see him on the race and looking so well and we'll catch up with him for a chat a little later in the race.

'The Mullet' - flying by name, flying by nature

Shane Archbold is a great rider in his own right; the biggest items in his palmares coming on the track in the shape of gold in the scratch race at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and silver in the omnium at the World Championships in 2011.

But the 27-year-old Kiwi - who calls himself The Flying Mullet on Twitter - is also well able to move on the road.

He has led out Sam Bennett for stage victories at the An Post Rás when both rode for An Post-Chainreaction and also won a stage in the Irish tour himself in 2013 on stage 2 into Nenagh.

He moved to Bora-Argon 18 last winter to join up with Bennett and helped the Irishman across the finish line on stage 1 of the Tour, above, when Bennett crashed.

He was relieved of lead-out duties yesterday as Bennett came in just over 6 minutes down and was in no danger of missing the time cut.

Archbold took his chance quite well and finished 10th on the stage; not to be sniffed at on your first Tour, or any Tour for that matter. It was good to see.
