The Nicolas Roche Performance Team have finalised their roster for 2014 with a number of very promising first year juniors making their way onto the squad to replace outgoing riders Dylan Foley and Liam Corcoran.

Second year juniors Mark Downey, Darragh Long, Matthew Teggart and national junior road race champion Fintan Ryan have all been retained.

They will be joined by former national U16 champion Craig McAuley, as well as first year juniors Caimin Muldoon who joins from Seven Springs CC, Michael O’Loughlin, who is leaving Iverk Produce Carrick Wheelers, and Aaron Swan previously of TCR Ballymena.

Two other riders who rode with the squad this year are staying despite progressing to the U23 ranks in 2014, namely Danny Bruton and David McCarthy.

They will spend some of the early season at home before joining up with French club team AC Bisontine for the summer months.

“We have assembled a really strong squad for next year and we are delighted to be joined by Craig, Aaron, Michael and Caimin,” said NRPT-Standard Life manager Philip Finnegan.

“We had our first get together at the start of the month and have training weekends planned for January and February. We’re finalising our racing calendar now and it will include the top races at home as well as the UK Junior Series.”

“We’ll also be doing events in France, Belgium and Holland and we think the relationship with AC Bisontine is a really good one for Danny and David.”

Once again, Standard Life have come on board as the team’s chief backers and have given a financial commitment for 2014 which will allow the team travel to many races at home and abroad.

Finnegan said they are currently in the process of finalising equipment, while he stressed that opportunities are still available for any individual or business looking to become involved as a supplier and sponsor with NRPT.

Interested parties should e-mail  [email protected] or contact Finnegan directly on 086 0451318.

The team will be joined by a nutritionist and coach and Finnegan said they are currently planning an event planned to coincide with the arrival of the Giro d’Italia in Dublin in May and will release more details soon.
