The 'Operation Transformation' show has always held running and walking events, but this year it's cycling and you can join in.
RTE’s popular television series ‘Operation Transformation’ will this year feature cycling for the first time since the inception of the popular series.
Those on the show trying to lose weight have always walked or ran as a means to their target, but now the contestants will take to two wheels.
And cyclists all over the country will have an opportunity to join five mini sportives being run in conjunction with the show and which will feature when the series is aired.
The show is built around the concept of appointing five participants to be team leaders, with the public encouraged to take on the diet and exercise regimes featured on screen.

The cycling events will revolve around the show's five team leaders on the 2015 series.
Cycling Ireland said the show had built a significant following over the past seven years and that clubs based in the areas of this year’s team leaders would play a part in the series this year.
“Five of our Cycling Ireland clubs will be working with the Operation Transformation production team, RTE and Cycling Ireland to run a 10km cycle which will take place on Saturday 7th February in the locations of the leaders,” the federation said in a statement.
“These will be free events, but pre-registration will be required, and it is anticipated that the slots will fill up fast, so keep tuned for more details.
“The events will be televised and promoted in the week leading up to the cycle, with cycling tips on the website, and the nation will be encouraged to get on their bikes.”
The clubs who are kindly hosting these events are:
- Ardee Cycling Club (Louth)
- Gorey Cycling Club (Wexford)
- Lucan Cycling Road Club (Dublin)
- Shannonside Cycling Club (Westmeath)
- West Cork Cycling Club (Cork)
Keep an eye on the Operation Transformation website for further details.
