Currently in action at the Vuelta a España, Ag2r La Mondiale team leader Nicolas Roche has launched an Irish sportive for the end of the season, with the inaugural event to take place in just over one month’s time.

The “Nicolas Roche Classic” rolls out from Tayto Park near Ashbourne in Co Meath on the morning of Saturday October 6th and promises to be a hugely popular event given the rising profile of the Irishman in recent years.

Roche will take part in the programme of events and will also be on hand to meet people. The day is being put on by Nicolas’s uncle and former Tour de France rider Laurence Roche along with Philip Finnegan and Dermot Rutherford.

The sportive, which is in aid of the Meath Youth Federation, offers a number of routes with the event set to be very much a social occasion and a chance to meet Roche at the season’s end just after the Tour of Lombardy.
