The new promoters of the Mondello Series, at Mondello Park in Co Kildare, have secured a title sponsor for the races due to take place later this year. And you can enter those races - all seven for the price of six - by following this link.

Thorntons Recycling, which has sponsored a number of cycling races and clubs on the domestic scene, has now teamed up with the Mondello Series for its latest venture into the sport. Stickybottle will also be a support sponsor this year, though the headline backing is coming from Thorntons.

Securing the recycling company, which has a major presence in Ireland, as a backer is a very positive step forward for the series, which is now being run by the new Dublin Ravens Road Club, having been organised for years by Usher Irish Road Club.

Paul Thornton, company director, said the firm's association with cycling was a longstanding one and he and his team were looking forward to the upcoming series.

Simon Ward of Dublin Ravens said the securing of a sponsor would be of great assistance in running this year's series.

"There is a long history of mid summer criterium racing in Ireland and the only way to keep these events going is via the support business how have a genuine love of our sport and want it to not just survive but to grow," he said.

"Thorntons Recycling are a leader in the area and we could not be happier to partner with them in creating a sustainable mid week criterium series."
