McConvey Racing Team launched with quality bike, kit backers

The new team has been assembled by invitation only and will ride a very impressive range of top bikes.

Having long been involved in the off-road scene, McConvey Cycles is branching out with the launch of a new racing team.

The Belfast store and online retailer has launched the McConvey Cycles Race Team.

While the XMTB McConvey Cycles team has specialised in MTB and cyclocross, the new race team has more of a road focus, though it will encourage its riders to tackle all disciplines.

The man behind the project and owner of McConvey Cycles, Eamon McConvey, said the team’s primary goal was to develop local riders to achieve their full potential and compete in all cycling disciplines.

The six-man team has been assembled on an invite only basis.

It will consist of Graham Boyd, Tomasz Michalski, Stuart Ballantine, Thomas Creighton, Craig McCarthy and Scott Roberts.

The team will have full support from the McConvey Cycles staff and facilities; impressive back-up considering the business is trading over 30 years and is an approved dealer for S-Works, Specialized and Giant and is also a certified Retül bike fit centre.

“For over 30 years we have been involved in the local bike scene and appreciate the importance of team support,” McConvey said.

The team is partnering with Specialized bikes and equipment, Bioracer clothing, Fenwicks bike cleaning products, Fitness Test NI for coaching and In Touch Solutions.

The riders will use Specialized Tarmac for road, Specialized Epic for MTB and Specialized Crux for cyclocross.
