A dog that ran out into the road as the Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne peloton was passing had to be snatched out of danger by a woman who ran into the road after it.
The close call occurred with about 70km remaining in the race in Belgium, with the small black dog, which was on a lead, somehow getting free from its owner and running into the road as the riders passed.
Luckily the dog paused for a moment and so didn't run right into the group. A woman then darted forward, scooped up the dog and retreated back into the group of fans at the roadside.

It could have been a lot worse but luckily no riders were affected by the incident, though a few of them threw the pooch some nervous glances as they passed.
