Best known for his exploits off road, David Montgomery has just signed for Team 3M, the Belgian Continental-level team which specialises in road racing.
The 20-year-old from Banbridge, who won the men’s elite race at the National Cyclocross Championships in Swords, north Dublin, last month is the final name to be added to the 20-strong rider roster for 2015.
Already on the team are fellow Irishmen Connor McConvey and Jack Sadler.
Belfast man McConvey signed for the team from Synergy Baku over the winter. He has ridden for the An Post-Chainreaction team in the past.

British-born Sadler rode for Rapha Condor-JLT last year in his first season out of the junior ranks but transferred to Team 3M over the winter break.
Montgomery won the U23 cyclocross crown last year and was also British University Road Race Champion.
He is currently a Sport & Exercise Science student at Loughborough University in England, where he had raced the cyclocross scene over the winter.
Despite signing for Team 3M, he plans to complete his college course but is taking a leave of absence.
He will also continue to ride cyclocross but will be part of Team 3M’s road teams during the season ahead.

Riding at that level would likely improve him as a rider and may set him up for selection on the national team for future World Cyclocross Championships or the mountain biking events at the Olympics.
He raced in the colours of Chainreactioncycles during the just-concluded cyclocross season.
He took part in the UCI World Cyclocross Cup in Milton Keynes in December.
However, despite a really dominant win at the national championships he was left disappointed when Cycling Ireland did not send a team to last week’s World Cyclocross Championships in the Czech Republic.
