The Champion System colours will be a lot more familiar to Irish fans now Matt Brammeier has signed
Reigning National Road Race Champion, Matt Brammeier has signed with the Pro Continental team ‘Champion System’ for 2013.
Winner of the national crown for the past three years, Brammeier had an injury-hit 2012 with Omega Pharma-Quickstep and he found himself without a ride after his one-year deal expired.
He has since undergone surgery to correct a knee issue and has been in talks with a number of teams about joining them for next year. It has emerged this evening, Monday, that the Irishman will rider for Champion System next year.
The ProConti outfit is registered in China and should offer Brammeier many opportunities to be team leader and get results of his own. He has been hampered in that regard over the past couple of seasons with Omega Pharma-Quickstep and in 2011 with HTC-Highroad.
Brammeier has won a lot of races throughout his career and will be among the very strongest in his new team next year, a factor that should see him on the podium at some major races.
Last year Champion System rode a number of races in Asia but also competed in many significant European events throughout the season.
The races it rode last year included: Tour of Qatar; Tour of Oman; Three Days of West Flanders; Dwars Vlaanderen; De Panne; Tour of Belgium; Tour de Beauce; Route du Sud; Tour of Austria, Tour of Utah; Tour of Denmark; Tour of Britain; Paris Tours; Tour of Beijing; Tour of China; Paris Brussels and a whole host of others.
Best of luck to Matt; we’ll have more when we get it.
