Eddie Barry (Blarney CC) will aim to defend his title in Fermoy this weekend when he goes to the line for the annual Dan O'Donovan Memorial hosted by the local club.
Barry has an excellent pedigree on the domestic racing scene, and on the roads where Sunday's race takes place few have equalled him this season to date.
Not only is he way out in front in the Fermoy summer league but he's always performed consistently and will be expected to do so again on Sunday.
He will face formidable opposition from a Dan Morrissey-Speedy Spokes line-up that is set to include Paidi O'Brien, Sean Lacey, Michael Fitzgerald and Stephen Clancy.
The squad is building momentum for the Suir Valley Three-Day which is just over two weeks away and will be using Sunday's race as a form-tester ahead of that August Bank Holiday weekend showdown.
Robin Kelly (Waterford RC) is another who's expected to be in the shake-up on Sunday and should the race come down to a sprint he'll certainly be one of the favourites to win while Simon Ryan (Visit Nenagh- DMG) is a punchy rider and the finish, slightly uphill leading onto a flat, will suit him.
Kelly was second in the Midleton GP two weeks ago while Ryan was in the day’s break and will be looking to improve on that.
The race is 10 laps of a 10 kilometre circuit and will double up as the Munster Road Race championships which were cancelled last month following a bad crash in the A4 race in Whitechurch.
There is a full programme of racing on the agenda with the underage starting at 11.30am, followed by the A4 race and an A3 race also.
Sign on from 10am is at Colaiste Craoidhin just outside the town.
