Ryan Mullen has greatly enhanced his growing reputation with a fantastic win on the international stage today, Sunday. He romped home for victory in the junior Chrono des Nations time trial in France.

The European season-closer was held over 20.87km around the streets of Herbiers in the Vendee region.

The junior event was on the undercard of the main event elite race today, won by World TT Champion Tony Martin (Omega Pharma–Quick Step).

Mullen, a silver medallist in the European TT Championships this year and 9th in the World TT Championships last month, whipped around the course today in an average speed of 46.637 km/h to record a time of 26:51.54.

Riding in the colours of USC Crabbe, the Irishman was a comfortable 24 seconds ahead of French rider David Michaud (VS Vallet).

Mullen has been in talks with a number of teams with a view to finding a berth with a squad for next year to continue his development. An announcement about his destination for 2013 is believed to be imminent.
