Eoin Mullen clashes with Sandor Szalontay and hits the deck during the first round repechage of the keirin at the European Championships this morning.

Eoin Mullen is well used to the rough and tumble of track racing but the Aran Islander had a very lucky escape during his heat in the kierin event today.
Racing this morning in the first round repechage, he tangled with Hungarian rider Sandor Szalontay after coming off the bend and the two came down hard.
Both were able to walk away from the incident but were listed as non-finishers.
Former world champion Francois Pervis edged Huge Haak (Netherlands) in the gallop, but only Pervis advanced to the second round.
The crash ended Mullen’s interests in the event, a sad ending to his campaign after his national record-setting ride in the sprint last night.
This picture below also shows how lucky Mullen was!

Mullen's Irish skinsuit was shredded in the crash and we're just glad he didn't get that huge splinter lodged anywhere!
