Mounds of leaves swept into cycle lane by council on one of Dublin's busiest roads

This cycle lane was left useless after these leaves were swept into it in what were already dreadful conditions for cycling in Dublin today

Dublin City Council’s cleaning efforts left a lot to be
desired on one of Dublin’s busiest roads today, with the cycle lane filled with
leaves.

The leaves were piled high in the cycle lane on the Malahide
Road in the Marino-Clontarf area; the safety of cyclists sacrificed so the
pavement was cleared.

A stickybottle read who took the photos below said the
pavement had been cleared of leaves, which had all be swept onto the cycle
lane.

“There was no doubt somebody had done this,” said the
cyclist who photographed the cycle lane covered in leaves.

“On one stretch there was lots of leaves on the path and
hardly any on the cycle lane and then where the cleaning job had been done the
path was clear and the cycle lane was covered in leaves.

“The cycle lane was so bad you couldn’t use it. And that
section is dangerous enough with buses passing and with lots of traffic.”

It wet and windy weather on what was a very dark day from
early in the afternoon, this was very poor form.
