Christopher McGlinchey shows his delight at winning the Foyle GP yesterday. The Chain Reaction Cycles man is after a stellar season to date but is showing no signs of slowing down. Christopher McGlinchey added another victory to his palmarés yesterday with a strong win in the Foyle GP in Killea, Co Donegal; the ChainReactionCycles man proving best of the day’s breakaway.
The Kerry Group Rás Mumhan champion managed to escape in a break on the first of six 11-mile laps.
He was alongside Marcus Christie (ASEA-Wheelworx), Craig McAuley (Caldwell Cycles), Ronan McLaughlin (Fpyle CC), Karl Morgan (Phoenix CC) and Richard Meaney (Westport Covey Wheelers).
They tapped through for the next four laps, extending an initial lead of one minute out to two minutes before the next selection was made on the penultimate circuit.

“On lap five Marcus attacked and the group thinned out to just four with Karl and Richard getting dropped,” said McGlinchey.
“The gap was hovering around a minute for the first few laps and then it went out to over two.
“It was a strong group on a hard course with draggy roads and then a steep rise three quarters of the way around.
“Craig put the pressure on at that steep climb and we distanced Marcus on the last lap and then we stayed honest until the final kilometre,” he explained.
Coming into the line in the group of four McGlinchey kicked hard with 300 metres to go and the sprint that’s won him some big races already this year won him another.
“I feel like I’m going well," said the former top downhill rider.
"I’ll take a small break now for a holiday and after that I’ll look towards trying to gain selection for the U23 European Championships and target few more races back home.”
