After being held in the Leinster area for the past couple of seasons, the National Hill Climb Championships is moving to Kerry, the scene of some of the greatest climbing battles witnessed in the domestic scene down the years.
The event is down for decision just four weeks from now, on Sunday October 6th, and will bring the curtain down on the domestic road season after a fantastic 2013 campaign.
The title decider is being promoted this year by Tralee CC and will see the riders battle it out up Foleys Glen on Sliabh Mish. The climb is 4km long, reaching a height of 310m. The average gradient is 8-10 per cent, with a maximum gradient of 17 per cent.
The event is an individual time trial, open to all riders with a full competition license who pre-register before the deadline of September 28th.
Riders will start at 1 minute intervals from a set of individual start times which will be forwarded to each registered rider in the week before the event.
Headquarters for the event is St Pat's GAA grounds in Blennerville. Sign on will be from 9am on the morning with first rider off at 10am. Post event presentations will be made at HQ, where refreshments will also be available.
Pre-registration is required to participate and the entry form – in the link below - must be filled out and returned to the Tralee CC secretary by the deadline date. For more information please email [email protected] or call us at 087 6370738.
