Maxim Belkov assaulted by Vuelta spectator
A video clip has emerged of Alpecin-Katusha rider Maxim Belkov being pushed off his bike in an assault during today’s stage.
A spectator in a red T-shirt rushes towards him and pushes him into the crowd control barriers.
The rider had taken to Facebook to appeal for video evidence of the incident before the clip below emerged.
He also explained in his Facebook post what had happened to him.
“Today at the 12th stage in the last mountain 1-2km before the GPM I was pushed and kicked out of the bike by one of the "fans" in a red T-shirt,” he said.
“I flew over the fence and fell into the sink pit. It's outrageous and not athletic in relation to the riders! Maybe someone has a video of what happened?”
