Video: Probably the best pro bike handling we’ve seen; take a look

If any of us mere mortals tried this we'd we on our arse and probably bring down half the peloton. This is bike handling with supreme skill and confidence personified...

He’s the new wonder-rider on the block; with a real chance the excitement around Mathieu van der Poel will surpass Peter Sagan even.

Yet he has only just won his first WorldTour race; Dwars door Vlaanderen (1.UWT) yesterday.

Van der Poel is already a legend in cyclocross and is the current world and European champion.

He was so dominant last year that some people began to complain the pro scene was becoming boring.

He’s also the Dutch road race champion and his father believes he can win the Tour of Flanders this weekend.

Yet at 24-years-old and with cyclocross and road racing at his feet, he has decided to remain committed to MTB racing until after the 2020 Olympics.

Not only is his father the great Adrie van der Poel; his grandfather is the even greater Raymond Poulidor.

Mathieu van der Poel really has it all going on. And his bike handling, as the clip below shows, is supreme.

The video shows how he so casually flicked a stone off the road away from himself and the rest of the peloton in Belgium.

We seen terrific bike handlers in the pro bunch all the time, but this is another level.
