Martyn Irvine wins Viking jersey at Arctic Race of Norway

Just weeks back into racing action and Martyn Irvine has picked up the Viking jersey at the Arctic Race of Norway.
The Aqua Blue Sport man rode on the front of the bunch on yesterday's stage three for around 100km.
He aided the chase of the breakaway, looking to set up his team mate Michel Kreder.
And because his fantastic ride came just 11 weeks after he broke his hip in racing action in May, cycling fans have taken him to their hearts.
The Viking jersey is voted for by the public on social media. It is ostensibly for the rider regarded as the "team mate of the day".
In reality, it's a popularity contest. And the rider whose performance and background resonates with the fans normally wins it.

Martyn Irvine has come out on top this time and will wear the Viking jersey on today's stage 4.
This is the second jersey he has won since coming out of retirement and beginning his comeback with Aqua Blue Sport in April.
Just weeks into that comeback he took the combativity jersey at the Four Days of Dunkirk. But then in late May he crashed in Belgium and broke his hip.
He made his return to the peloton at the recent RideLondon-Surrey Classic and the Arctic Race of Norway is just his second race since returning from injury.
The Arctic Race of Norway concludes today after some fantastic action so far. Dylan Teuns (BMC Racing) leads going into the final stage.
And Aqua Blue Sport's Kreder is now 3rd overall after finishing 4th on the queen stage yesterday.
