Ouch! Mark Downey hit the deck while training in Majorca with the national track team and as well as sustaining burns and cuts he very nearly got this splinter in the backside.
Mark Downey has been around the block a few years now and is no stranger to track racing and the dangers that go with high-speed events.
The former junior national time trial champion won the European Championships points race silver medal last year despite crashing in that event.
He got back on his bike and immediately got stuck into the action again to make the podium in what is a major championships.
