Mark Cavendish crashes again at Tirreno-Adriatico TTT
Mark Cavendish has crashed in his comeback race after returning from concussion caused by a previous crash.
The Manxman hit the deck had in the team time trial at Tirreno-Adriatico today.
He got back on his bike and finished the stage. It meant it appeared he would be eligible to start tomorrow’s stage.
However, he looked pretty shook as he came into the fins alone, as the video below shows.
Later it emerged he was outside the time cut and so is out of the race.
As well as wounds to his leg and his ripped clothing, Cavendish’s face had some very nasty looking injures.
He was sporting bruising and abrasions around his right eye and his mouth.

Cavendish was only coming back to racing after a crash two weeks ago at the Abu Dhabi Tour.
He fell in the neutral zone of the opening stage after the race director’s car braking caught some riders by surprise.
Cavendish fell on the same shoulder he broke at the Tour de France last year.
He also suffered whiplash and concussion. And he said he had taken a week away from the bike due to the concussion.
Sadly his opening effort today has resulted into another crash; in the TTT with Dimension Data.
The stage was won by BMC Racing. It clocked 22:19 for the 21.5km test into Lido di Camaiore.
Mitchelton-Scott was 2nd some four seconds back. In third place came Team Sky another five seconds adrift.
Ryan Mullen’s Trek-Segafredo was 8th, losing 39 seconds on the winners.
More to follow.
